Student Shepherd

Student Shepherd is our entry for the GMTK 2020 Game Jam. The theme was Out of Control and our interpretation was trying to train an out of control sheep dog to herd sheep, with a mind of their own, into a pen and it was quite a lot of fun to make.

This was a great introduction for us into the use of Godot’s in-built 3D navigation tools but it required writing custom flocking behaviour for the sheep.

The goal of the game is to get all the sheep into the pen without them escaping out into the woods, where the hungry wolves lay in wait. The dog will only respond to a certain number of commands in a certain time and the sheep will do anything to get away from the dog.

Ultimately it’s not the most fun game but I feel it offers an interesting experience for players and with some tweaks could possibly be turned into a proper puzzle game.
